Class of 2007 Special Offer

Many of today's High School Seniors are falsely led to believe that they MUST GO to their official "contract" photographer. That is so far from the truth.

What happens is, schools enter into contracts with portrait studios based on what the studio is going to "kick back" to the school and very rarely has anything to do with quality, service or what is best for the consumer (you).

If you (or someone you know) is unhappy with the portraits that were taken by the schools official photographer, give us a call. We are offering FREE sessions for all high school seniors during the month of February.

Just because your school says you have to go to a certain studio....doesn't mean you do.

Volunteering

Well, it's Monday, our day off so we are headed to Grand Rapids to visit with the Professional Photographers of Western Michigan.

I was asked to serve as a judge for their annual print competition. I'm honored to help whenever I can, and it gives me an opportunity to see what my fellow photographers are doing that is new and fresh.

The judging panel consists of four other nationally affiliated judges for Professional Photographers of America, so I'm going to be in really good company.

I'm thinking of pursing my "affiliated" status this year if my schedule permits. To do so, I would have to take the judging class again (I took it about 8 or 9 years ago) and then be critiqued by other jurors in 2 or 3 different state judgings. So it really boils down to having enough time to do it.

I do enjoy volunteering for these types of things, because it helps other photographers from beginners to advanced level to further their craft.

Newborns are too Cute

Photographing children is a quite enjoyable and very rewarding part of our studio business. Especially photographing newborns. There is something special about capturing the first months of a childs life and preserving them for posterity.

Anne and Felipe are the proud first time parents of Miles who was born last November. They brought him to visit Tammi and I when he was only 8 weeks old. The portraits that we created are just tooooo cute. In addition to some really great images showing off his hansome little face, we also were able to capture some really adorable "parts" (hands, feet, etc.) portraits.

Congratulations Anne & Felipe! I can't wait until you see the slide show.

We're Back!

We finally made it home from our National Convention that was held in San Antonio, Texas. I say finally because our flight that was originally scheduled for yesterday morning was cancelled due to freezing rain and ice in Texas. All of our fellow Michiganders were hoping to make it home today and I'm pretty sure we all made it out, judging by how busy the airport was.

What a crazy State. The whole town shuts down when a storm like that hits, because they have no way of dealing with ice.

Anyway, we had a great time and are grateful for the opportunity to learn and to recharge our "creative batteries".

The Sage in Bloom is Like Perfume

We're heading down to the heart of San Antonio, Texas today to attend the National Convention of Professional Photographers of America (Imaging USA).

We're excited to attend to learn of the new innovations in the photography world, and to learn the latest and greatest techniques from our peers around the country.

While we are there, I will serve as a Professional Reviewer for the Student Volunteers at Imaging USA on Sunday afternoon. The students are aspiring photographers from all over the country and are in San Antonio to help PPA direct the 5000 attendees to classes and other events.

I'm excited to see what these young aspiring artists are doing and hopefully, I can give them some words of encouragement to start them on a long career in the photography world.

The bond between parent and child is one one lifes most precious gifts. Because these moments are so very special, we work hard to create quality portraits with warmth and sensitivity that you can feel, not just see.

We are offering complimentary "Mommy & Me" and "Daddy & Me" portrait sessions during the month of February.

Capture these tender moments through the artistry of a David M Deutsch original portrait.

With Mothers Day and Fathers Day rolling around in a few months, these portraits make the perfect gift for a loved one.

A Great Wedding Propsal

Tammi and I love to learn about how the couples that we photograph met and how they got engaged.

Stacey and Jason have one of the best stories that I have heard in a VERY LONG TIME.

Instead of trying to explain it, I will just link to the video so you can see for yourself. This is great.

Good job Jason! We're looking forward to photographing your wedding this summer.

A New Year and the Passing of a President

Happy New Year!

I can't believe how quickly time flies. It's true that as you get older, time seems to pass exponentially faster.
It has been an interesting December for us. I was out most of the month with pneumonia - that really puts a crimp in the work schedule... and just about everything else! But thank God I am feeling much better now.

Tammi and I took today off to rest and recharge our batteries and to prepare for the coming new year. Right now we're watching the Presidential memorial service for Gerald R. Ford, a fellow Michigander.

I was only a teenager when President Ford was in office but can remember the tumultuous times that the 70's were and the major issues that he was left to deal with. (Not to mention the over-the-top fashions that we all thought were so stylish!)

I was fortunate enough to capture this image of President Ford about ten years ago at Max Fisher's 90th birthday party at the Ritz Carlton.

Pictured from left to right are: Mr. and Mrs. John Engler (former Michigan Governor), President Gerald R. Ford, Max Fisher, President and Mrs. George H.W. Bush, Henry Kissinger.
